To install AQT, double click the install file aqtxxx_setup.exe.
it is recommended that you install AQT with a user with Administrator rights
on Windows Vista and Windows 7, it is recommended that right-click the aqtxxx_setup.exe file and select Run As > Administrator.
You should retain the install file in case you need to repair or remove the installation.
Installing under different userids
If your machine has multiple users, the method used for installing AQT is:
install AQT using an Administrator user
for each other user, log on then run the AQT install again. This will work OK even if this user doesn't have admin rights - this is because the file-copy and component registration has already been done. This install will add the Start and desktop icons for the user.
Repair Install
If any of your AQT files have been inadvertently deleted or corrupted, you can reinstall them by running aqtxxx.exe and selecting Repair. This will copy the AQT files again. Any files that you have created (queries etc) will not be effected by this.
Upgrading from a Previous Version of AQT
When you upgrade AQT, simply double-click the new aqtxxx_setup.exe file. The Microsoft Installer will automatically deinstall the previous version of AQT then install the new version. You do not need to uninstall AQT first.
go Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. Select Advanced Query Tool v9 and click on Remove.
running the install file aqtxxx_setup.exe file and selecting Uninstall
When you uninstall AQT it will just remove the files that were created during the install. It will not remove:
any files created by AQT (saved-queries, history files, user-defined relationships, favorites files etc)
registry settings
license keys
This means that you can uninstall and reinstall AQT without losing your AQT customizations and preferences. However, if you have a problem with AQT, uninstalling and reinstalling will generally not resolve it, as often this is due to a particular setting.
To remove AQT completely from your machine:
run the uninstall process
delete the C:\Program Files\Advanced Query Tool v9 directory
remove the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cardett registry key
remove the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\Cardett registry key
To reset AQT's settings, remove these two registry keys.
