Error SQL5016 with DB2 for iSeries

While trying to display the Database Explorer window, you may get an such as:

S1000(-5016)[IBM][iSeries Access ODBC Driver][DB2 UDB]SQL5016 - QUALIFIED OBJECT NAME xxxxx NOT VALID

The error is happening because your database connection is defined to use the *SYS naming convention and this is not compatible with the queries AQT uses to display the information in the Database Explorer window.

There are two options for you:

change the configuration of the ODBC Datasource for your database to specify that the*SQL naming convention is to be used.
alternatively, go to Options > Database Explorer and check the option For DB2 for iSeries, support the *SYS Naming Convention

You can get the same error message if you are running a query and your query is using the incorrect naming convention. In this case you need to either amend your query to use the correct naming convention, or change your ODBC Datasource configuration as described above.
