"Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation" when signing onto a database

When signing onto a database, you may get the following error:

Processing error at do_connect

Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.

This implementation is not part of the Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms

Resolution

You can resolve this problem by making a registry change. Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa

and set:

fipsalgorithmpolicy = 0

Alternatively

This change can also be done as follows:

• In Control Panel, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Local Security Policy.
• In Security Settings, expand Local Policies, and then click Security Options.
• Under Policy in the right pane, double-click System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing, and then click Disabled.

Fixed in AQT v10.0.2

This problem has been fixed in AQT v10.0.2 and AQT v11. It will still be present in earlier versions of AQT v9 and v10.
